I'm ill
Illness changes everything: plans, strength, sometimes how others look at you. The Gospels are full of sick people, and Jesus never treated their illness as a punishment. He stopped for them, touched them, asked them what they wanted — and let them tell their whole story.
Him when Jesus had seen lying, and knew that he had been now a long time, he saith to him: Wilt thou be made whole?

Pray
Lord Jesus, you asked the sick man what he wanted. You know what I want: to be well. Give me strength for today, good people around me, and your peace in my body and in my fears. Into your hands I place what I cannot change. Amen.
Written for cento53 as a simple personal prayer — not a liturgical text.
One thing to do today
If you are ill, tell one person honestly how you are and ask for one concrete help. If you are seriously ill, you can ask a priest for the Anointing of the Sick. If you are well, visit, call or write to someone who is sick.
- What would you answer if Jesus asked you: what do you want?
- Who could you let help you today?
