About this title

Queen of Peace is one of Mary's titles in the Litany of Loreto, added by Pope Benedict XV in 1917, during the First World War. At Medjugorje, the visionaries say she presented herself by this name.

Biblical profile: Mary, Mother of Jesus →

What she asked

According to the visionaries; the Church has not declared the messages supernatural and asks for discernment, but recognises that they call for:

  • Peace, with God and between people.
  • Conversion.
  • Prayer, especially the Rosary.
  • Fasting, traditionally on Wednesdays and Fridays.
  • Confession and the Mass.
  • Reading the Bible.

Private revelation: it can help us live the Gospel, but adds nothing to it, and no Catholic is obliged to believe it.

When to ask for intercession

  • for peace in the world and in families
  • conversion
  • to return to prayer and confession

A short prayer

Our Lady, Queen of Peace, intercede for us, that peace may begin in our hearts and reach our families and the world.

Written for cento53 as a simple personal prayer of intercession — not a liturgical text.

Private revelation

In 2024 the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith gave a nihil obstat for Medjugorje: devotion and pilgrimages are allowed because of their good spiritual fruits, without declaring the apparitions supernatural. No Catholic is obliged to believe them (CCC 67).
