Who was this?
An orphan from a noble Flemish family who gave away his inheritance, went on pilgrimage to Rome several times and worked as a shepherd near Sebourg. A disfiguring illness later made people shy away from him, and he spent some forty years as a recluse in a small cell beside the church, living on barley, water and the Eucharist.
Patron of
- shepherds
- people with a disfiguring illness
- people who feel unattractive
- coffee-house owners (a popular modern patronage)

- an illness that isolates you
- work with animals
A short prayer
Saint Drogo, intercede for me, that I may know I am loved by God as I am, and never turn away from anyone because of how they look.
Written for cento53 as a simple personal prayer of intercession — not a liturgical text.

Historians debate
He was never formally canonised: his cult is old and local, and 16 April is his traditional date. Stories of him being seen in two places at once come from popular legend.
